Workplaces are usually made up of individuals in teams. To keep organisations running smoothly and productively, leaders need to maintain positive workplace relationships between all team members. This means:
- Trusting the team. When people have trust they form a powerful bond. This supports effective, open and honest communication.
- Mutual respect. When there is respect among people who work together, people value the input of others and feel valued themselves.
- Mindfulness. People take responsibility for their own words and actions when they are mindful.
- Diversity. When there is diversity in a team, team members have the opportunity to factor broader insights into their thinking.
When all of these things come together, workplaces are more successful. Careers advance, positive change happens, opportunities are seized, and relationships with customers grow.
This module provides an overview of what positive workplace relationships are and some techniques for building these. Learners are provided the opportunity to set actions to help support a more ethical culture, a diverse workforce, feeling of inclusion and a high quality of work.
